A notorious Maoist couple, who together carried a reward of Rs 25 lakh on their heads, were killed during an encounter with security forces in the forests bordering Anugul and Deogarh districts in Odisha on Sunday.
According to reports, Maoists Sushil and his wife Soni were killed during a special operation conducted by security personnel in the area following intelligence inputs.
Sushil, who had over 78 criminal cases pending against him, had a reward of Rs. 20 lakhs on his head while his wife had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head.
Police has also recovered huge cache of rifle, arms, ammunitions and Mao literature from the spot.
