Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam is boycotting this week's Commonwealth summit in Colombo over Sri Lanka's human rights record.

Ramgoolam has become the third leader to boycott the summit after Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper.

Sri Lanka is accused of committing widespread abuses in the final months of its war against Tamil Tiger rebels, the BBC reports.

Ramgoolam told Mauritius' parliament that he would not attend the meeting and instead Foreign Minister Arvin Boolell will be representing the country at the meeting.

Boolell said that he did not think the decision by the PM would adversely affect relations between the two countries.

India also announced earlier this week that Singh would not go to the summit, and instead the country's foreign minister would attend the gathering.
