South African police have impounded 33 Uber vehicles in Cape Town in a dispute over drivers' permits, said an Uber executive.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Uber was banned in Delhi along with France, Spain and Netherlands. The company has faced regulatory setbacks all over the world in the recent past.
Alon Lits, general manager for Durban and Johannesburg said that drivers need an operating license under national law.
However, South African cities have called for various subcategories of the license.
Uber continues to operate in Cape Town and many cars that had been impounded have now been released already, said Lits.
He also said that the company is engaged in getting a clear route to licensing.
