Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 16 and 17 where he will hold talks with the leaders there on key issues of trade and security and will address the Indian community.

"PM Modi is coming to UAE and we are hopeful that the relations between both the countries will improve," said Sarvottam Shetty, ex-president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangh.

"There are so many issues, particularly with the labour class. People are facing a lot of problem because when they lose the job, they don't get indemnity, they don't get provident funds, they don't any benefits and sometimes these laborers are harassed by their employers," said Shetty on the expectations of Indian community from the PM's visit.

Adding the NRIs voting rights as a major issue, Shetty said, "The NRIs voting rights is a major issue, we have brought this up in front of many governments but nothing has happened."

"Hope this will be finalized in this meeting," he added.

The PM, who is on his maiden visit to an Arab country, will be interacting with more than 50 thousand Indians day after tomorrow, which can prove to be morale booster for the Indian community.

PM Modi on Thursday expressed his certainty that his two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will boost people-to-people ties between the two nations.
