The Centre for Women and Family Studies (CWFS) of National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was yesterday inaugurated by Justice K T Thomas, near Kochi.
The Centre is set up with the objective of encouraging study and research in the field of law relating to women and family.
Justice K. T. Thomas, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, addressed the gathering by elucidating the important provisions that exist in statutes like the Indian Penal Code that provide protection for women against sexual offences.
The Centre for Women and Family Studies in association with Kerala Women's Commission also conducted a day long training programme on 'Sexual harassment against Women in educational institutions'.
CWFS-NUALS is the eighth centre constituted by NUALS with an initiative to comply with UGC recommendations based on Saksham Report, 2013 to create gender awareness and sensitivity in the society.
