NYC bound Air France airliner escorted by US fighter jets after threat

An Air France airliner bound for New York was escorted by a pair of US fighter jets after flight personnel purportedly received an anonymous "chemical weapons threat".

According to the BBC, US officials claimed that they received the threat via a call claiming that there was a "chemical weapons threat" aboard the aircraft.

After the landing, Air France Flight 22 was searched in a secure area of JFK Airport.

According to the FBI, no hazards were found and the plane was cleared.
