O.J Simpson got emotional during his first time on witness stand for the court hearing. Accused in the case of armed robbery five years ago, he explained how he was hammered on the day of the incident as a result of over drinking and that it was not a robbery.
In his statement he defended himself by maintaining that he was merely taking back his belongings from the memorabilia collectors, which included a photograph of him with FBI Director J.Edgar Hoover.
In a report by NY Post, the former American football player said that he was attached to the things and was unaware of their missing for 10 years and thus was emotional seeing them.
His current lawyer, Patricia Palm, hinted that his drinking habit could have been used as a key factor for his defense during 2008 trial.
Simpson maintained that his previous lawyer, Yale Galanter's shoddy work was responsible for his getting a sentence for 33 years. He also testified that he had no clue about his friends carrying guns on the day of the incident.
He also said that he had told Galanter about his plan to confront the sports memorabilia collectors and that the lawyer told him it was well within his rights.
Galanter, on the other hand, is scheduled to testify on Friday.
