US President Barack Obama has lashed out at Ferguson protesters who have taken to violence to demonstrate their angst against the verdict in Michael Brown case, saying he has no sympathy for people destroying their own communities.

The grand jury's decision not to indict Police Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown has led to protests in the US. People protesting in Ferguson are reported to be indulging in vandalism and street violence in the city.

Obama warned protesters that "nothing of significance, nothing of benefit results from destructive acts," adding that he has no sympathy at all for people destroying their own communities, ABC News reported.

He said that he understood the despair of a majority of people who were pained and frustrated, because they felt that maybe some communities weren't being treated fairly or some individuals weren't seen as worthy as others.

Obama is reportedly "considering" a trip to Ferguson once the situation there stabilizes.
