United States President Barack Obama has said that it would take time to tackle the 'deep rooted' problem of racism and bias in the country.

According to News24, Obama advised young people in the U.S. to be persistent since progress comes in steps. Gains have been made that give hopes for more growth, said Obama.

He also advised Americans to be patient and to not give up when they do not get "all the way there".

Obama said in the meeting with youth civil rights activists at the White House that they cannot equate what was happening now with what happened 50 years ago.
