The White House has reportedly served a "2,500-calorie" state dinner to honor the French president Francois Hollande.
The menu for the dinner featured a main course of dry-aged rib eye beef served with blue cheese, 12 varieties of potatoes and quail eggs, while the first course was American Osetra caviar, followed by a "winter garden salad", the Washington Times reported.
The desserts included a chocolate malted cake with bittersweet chocolate from Hawaii and tangerines from Florida, served with vanilla ice cream made in Pennsylvania and fudge made from Vermont maple syrup, lavender shortbread cookies and cotton candy dusted with orange zest.
A selection of wines was also served, priced between 30 dollars to 65 dollars offered from California, Washington and Monticello, Va.
