About 150 Maoist supporters, including four members of a Naxal outfit and two village committee members, surrendered before the Malkangiri district police in Odisha on Tuesday.

Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra told media persons that the villagers of Chitragapalli gram panchayat under Kalimela police station, irked over the unabated Maoist violence in their localities, preferred to surrender before the police.

Mohapatra said the surrendered Naxal supporters will be provided with monetary assistance in line with the rehabilitation package policy of the Odisha government.

Around 127 Maoist sympathisers of Silakota village of Malkangiri district had on 31st of last month surrendered before police after realising that development work is being hampered due to their rebel activities.
