Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today confirmed that most wanted Naxal leader Sabyasachi Panda had been arrested in the state's Ganjam District last night

The Odisha Police had yesterday arrested Panda from the state's Ganjam District.

Earlier today, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Jay Panda, expressed hope that Sabyasachi Panda would face the law for his crimes.

"He has been wanted for a very long time for many years. He has been involved in several kidnappings and other acts of violence, in Odisha and in bordering states. I hope that this information is accurate, it was long pending. He should face justice just like anybody else," the BJD leader had said.

Panda had been on the run for over a decade and faces over 30 charges of murder, including that of VHP leader Laxmananda Saraswati and his four disciples in Kandhamal in 2008. He had also abducted two Italian tourists in 2012.
