Odisha: Five killed, 22 injured in bus-tractor collision

In a tragic accident, as many as five persons were killed on the spot, while 22 others got critically injured as a bus collided headlong with a tractor near Odisha's Kherna today.

The bus was moving towards Rairangpur from Jassipura when it met with the accident at about 3 p.m.

Out of 22 injured, 17 were referred to the Baripada District Hospital for immediate treatment, while the others were immediately rushed to Badampahada Hospital.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed grief over this incident.

He has also ordered the administration to provide free medical treatment to the injured and expedite rescue operation.

 

The Chief Minister also declared Rs. two lakh compensation each to family members of five dead passengers.

An FIR has been registered and investigation is currently underway in this regard.
