The Odisha Vigilance Department on Tuesday caught Inspector-in-charge (IIC) Surendra Beuria of Odisha's Baliapal Police Station in Balasore district red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000.

The vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Beuria while accepting the bribe money from Ganesh Chandra Mohapatra, an accused in a land dispute case.

The IIC had allegedly demanded Rs. 20,000 as bribe for not arresting the accused person.

He was caught and arrested while receiving Rs 10,000 from a relative of the accused.

Further investigation is underway.
