Olivia Rogowska is struggling to digest her first round defeat at the hands of Magdalena Rybarikova in the French Open.

Rogowska, who surrendered 0-6, 7-5, 6-2 to Rybarikova, became the first Australian to be eliminated in Paris.

The Australian said she was still trying to process what had happened to her on court, The Guardian has reported.

She said she had a perfect start and was seeing the ball like a basketball.

Rogowska committed 16 unforced errors in the deciding set, the same amount as the first and second sets put together.

Earlier, the 23-year old player was delighted to qualify for the grand slam for the first time in her six year-career, overcoming her "mental barriers".

But her past demons haunted her, as she suffered her ninth first-round loss at a major.

Dejected with the defeat, she said she was trying to be tough and keen to move on.
