Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday showered praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acknowledging the achievements of the state cricket team in his 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on All India Radio.

"Very nice of PM @narendramodi ji to acknowledge the achievement of the J and K cricket team in his radio address today," Omar tweeted.

Addressing the nation through his 'Mann Ki Baat' programme earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team's victory in Mumbai.

"Since a long time all the playing grounds in Jammu and Kashmir were full of water due to the floods. The state is facing difficulties but despite that the team spirit and the will to reach heights with which the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team has won is outstanding," the Prime Minister said.

"I felt happy and proud after listening to the news and I congratulate them for their win," he added.
