SSR took to his Twitter handle to share his thoughts, along with a snap of M.S Dhoni.
"There is no one like you. You're the reason for millions of smiles. Take a bow my Captain. @msdhoni #dhoni," he wrote.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh too hailed MSD's decision and wrote, "Dear MSD, You have been one of the finest captains this country has seen. Thank you for the cricket, the victories & the world cups #Respect"
Confirming Dhoni's decision, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Wednesday, issued a release that read, "Dhoni has informed the BCCI, that he wishes to step down as the captain of the Indian Cricket Team from the One Day Internationals and the T20 Internationals formats of the game."
The 35-year-old cricketer, however, will remain available for selection for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against England and the same has been conveyed to the Senior Selection Committee.

On a related note, the much appreciated 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' has made it to the long 2016 Academy Awards list of 336 feature films, along with Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer 'Sarbjit.'
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the list of films in contention for the best picture Oscar on Wednesday.
Other than these two films, renowned filmmaker Mira Nair's directorial venture 'Queen of Katwe,' which was screened at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, is also part of the list.
