A single 30-second ad during the Super Bowl costs a staggering 4 million dollars, it has been revealed.

According to Kantor Media, the 4 million dollar price tag is up 70 percent on what it cost a decade ago, News.com.au reported.

Another data website found that the highest revenue generated from Super Bowl ad sales was in 2012 when CBS made 245 million dollars.

It is also worth noting that over the last five years, beverage giant Budweiser has spent over 145 million dollars for the ad spots.

In 2014, brands like Coca-Cola, Jaguar, SodaStream, Toyota, Hyundai, Pepsi, Volkswagen, Unilever, Nestle, Mars and Audi have all coughed up the sum for a cameo.

Darren Spiller, from ad agency DDB Melbourne, said that the lead-up to Super Bowl and in between, the ads absolutely own it and are an event in their own right and people start talking about it weeks before the game, so they have to keep up with the expectations of the viewers.
