Japan Airlines (JAL) believes in providing its customers with a safe and punctual flight, and the operation manager plays a key role in fulfilling those values.

The JAL Operation Control Centre manages around 720 flights everyday, planning and deciding the route taken during each journey. The other important role of Operation Control Centre is to handle emergencies.

"I remember an emergency, in which a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Tokyo stopped at Taipei due to a on-board medical crisis. We communicated with the people on the spot and with a doctor and acted as a bridge. The doctor ordered the plane to stop. But our mission was not finished," JAL flight dispatch office deputy director Hideyoshi Maeda said.

"We made a new flight plan from Taipei to Tokyo. We worked for the adjustment of the arrival and departure slot in Narita airport based on our flight plan. As a result, the plane took off one hour after it landed in Taipei. I remember it well because OCC was strongly united to get through the emergency," he added.
