US president Donald Trump on Thursday advocated death penalty for the drug dealers at the Opioid Summit conducted at White House.

The President spoke for stricter punishments while comparing it to such countries, which follow strict rules with respect to the supply of drugs.

He said, "Some countries have a very, very tough penalty, the ultimate penalty. And by the way, they have much less of a drug problem than we do. So we're going to have to be very strong on penalties,"

He added that the 'drug dealers' and 'drug pushers' are 'really doing (the) damage'.

Further, President Trump highlighted the anti-drug campaign conducted by his administration and revealed certain lawsuits to be introduced against the opium-producing firms in few months.

He said, "The country (U.S.) needs to fight the drug epidemic with 'strength and toughness, have spoken with his embattled Attorney General Jeff Sessions about bringing lawsuits against' some of these opioid companies.
