The opposition on Thursday sought a meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee to discuss the issue of demonetisation.
Since demonetisation move was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8, the nation has been experiencing chaos. The opposition is united against the move and has been demanding rollback.
Various petitions have been filed before the Supreme Court challenging the move. The apex court asked the Centre on whether its decision to introduce demonetisation was taken in absolute secrecy.
The Centre had also submitted an affidavit last week that demonetisation is a step to unearth an illegal parallel economy and to reduce the ratio of cash transactions.
Demonetisation has been stalling the parliament since the beginning of the session, with both the Centre and the opposition alleging each other of not letting have a discussion on the issue.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi yesterday alleged that he has information about corruption of the Prime Minister, which is why the latter is not letting him speak in the house.
"I have already said before that the Prime Minister is personally terrified of me being allowed to open my mouth inside the Lok Sabha, because I have information on the PM that is going to explode his balloon," said Rahul Gandhi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party counter-attacked Gandhi's comment saying neither anybody in the country takes Rahul Gandhi seriously nor anyone trusts him.
"I really feel sorry that nobody in this country takes Rahul Gandhi seriously. His talks are not serious and nobody trusts his words. So, how do you expect me to comment on his remarks," Chouhan said in an exclusive interview to Smita Prakash, Editor, ANI.
However, demonetisation has got mixed responses from the common man, with some supporting the move staunchly whereas some going to the extent of committing suicide due to the inconvenience caused.
