Oprah Winfrey and 'Selma' filmmaker Ava DuVernay have reunited to bring a new TV drama, inspired by the novel 'Queen Sugar' that will broadcasted on OWN

The Golden Globe Award winner said that she was adamant to bring the story written by Natalie Baszile, as it portrays a modern woman wrestling with identity, family, culture and the echoes of history, and to bring this kind of storyline on Winfrey's network was wildly wonderful for her, Deadline.com reported.

The talk show host told that this is the best story that can be turned into a series for OWN, and people will connect to this through its theme reflecting life reinvention, single parenting, family connections and conflicts, and building new relationships.

The 42-year-old director will be making her first television debut with this series and will write and produce it, whereas Winfrey will showcase her acting talent in a chronic role by making it her first appearance in a series of her own network.

Winfrey will also executive produce the show that has been scheduled to begin later this year.
