Oprah Winfrey acquires Mandela movie rights

Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) has acquired television rights of film 'Mandela

It will take more than three years before the film is shown on TV and when it is, it will be premiered by Winfrey's network, News24 reported.

The famous talk show host, who made much of her friendship with Madiba and attended his funeral in Qunu, bought the rights from The Weinstein Company (TWC).

The film is reportedly South Africa's most expensive feature film and is being buoyed by a growing list of nominations.
