With the Punjab Government ordering all Orbit buses off the roads over the Moga incident fallout, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday went a step ahead and demanded action against the company's directors.
"The buses should be off the road, all their permits and the track-record of all staff must be checked. A case must be registered against the company's directors," AAP leader Bhagwant Mann told ANI.
He said the ban was a result of the people's struggle, which forced the government to finally wake up from its slumber.
"This is a victory of our struggle. People have been united in this. There have been candle light marches on the roads. We stopped Orbit buses today and got them challaned. This means that the government has woken up only now," added Mann.
The Sangrur MP further accused the government of exerting pressure on the victim's family and asking them to 'compromise'.
"Nobody from the government came to express sympathy to the family. Whoever came, came at night. The MLAs and ministers don't come to ask about their well being, they come to exert pressure on them and ask them to compromise," Mann said.
Under sharp criticism over the Moga molestation case, the Punjab Government today jumped into action and ordered all Orbit buses off the roads with immediate effect.
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, who issued the order, asked the company to send its bus operating staff on orientation course.
He said no bus belonging to the company should be back on the road until the orientation course is completed.
