Son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Robert Vadra on Thursday urged for a sincere probe in the suicide case of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal.
Vadra took to Facebook and expressed his grief over the demise of the ex-serviceman, who allegedly committed suicide over the delay of One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme.
"Saddened to learn of the suicide of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal. Being so desperate to end his life, and further the family being detained by authorities, and not being able to complete the last rights, really needs to be probed," said Vadra on Facebook.
He further lambasted the government and asked the Centre to take care of soldiers who bestow their lives for the nation.
"We really need to care for our soldiers, who unconditionally keep us safe, at all times. Let's not only talk jargons. Let government do the real thing for our soldiers. My heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased serviceman," he said.
Chiming in the political storm that has erupted over the suicide of the ex-serviceman, who took his own life over the delay in implementation of the OROP scheme, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday expressed shock at the detention of her Delhi counterpart, saying it was "unprecedented and unacceptable".
