Oscar-nominated effects artist, Richard Alan Greenberg died at the age of 71.
Greenberg died on Saturday in New York after a bout with appendicitis, confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.
He worked for movies like 'Superman', 'Alien' and 'The World According to Garp'.
In 1977, the Chicago native and his brother launched R/Greenberg Associates in Manhattan.
Greenberg's main title work also can be seen on 'The Altered States', 'The World According to Garp', 'The Untouchables', 'Dirty Dancing', 'Death Becomes Her, 'Star Trek: Nemesis' and 'Edge of Darkness'.
He was also a father to daughter Jessica, and sons Luke and Morgan.
