South African sprint runner Oscar Pistorius, who is facing charges of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, is attending church regularly even as he prepares for his court hearing this week.

Pistorious' aunt, Lois Pistorius has revealed that the athlete has secretly been attending church on most Sundays, yet living as a virtual recluse.

The Guardian quoted Lois, as saying that Pistorious has been going to church to attend the English service and people from the church too are visiting him, adding that he is reading the Bible a lot.

However, Lois hopes that the runner will make a comeback and compete again because he has got the natural talent.

Lois also said that her most important concern is that Pistorious gets a fair trial and the truth prevails that Steenkamp's murder was a terrible accident and tragedy.

Pistorius admitted that he had shot four times through the locked door but said that he was acting in self-defence against whom he thought was an intruder.

According to the report, Pistorious' hearing this week is likely to last 10 minutes and the case might be postponed until August to enable the police to complete their investigation.

The athlete's trial is expected to start later this year, the report added.
