The South Africa's parole review board has ordered paralympic star Oscar Pistorius to undergo psychotherapy after blocking his release from prison just 10 months into his five-year sentence for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The parole review board (PRB) said that it is necessary for the offender to undergo psychotherapy in order to address criminogenic factors of the crime he committed, the Guardian reported.
The parole board further said that an earlier decision of allowing Pistorious out-on-house arrest was premature, adding that the case should be reconsidered.
The case of the 48-year-old was referred to the review panel by justice minister Michael Masutha at the last minute when Pistorious was ready to be released from prison in August.
Reacting to parole's decision, Masutha said that the board had made a mistake by approving Pistorious's early release.
