Oscars suffer lowest ratings in 6 years with 16pc drop from 2014

The 2015 Academy Awards telecast on the ABC network drew 16 percent fewer viewers than 2014, and it suffered its lowest ratings in the six years.

Nielsen reported that 36.6 million viewers tuned in to see the event this year, while the viewrship was 43.7 million in 2014, the Washington Times reported.

The only recent rival to the dubious designation are the 2009 awards, when 36.3 million viewers tuned in.
