Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been dropped from the 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Reflecting on Maxwell's omission, chief selector Rod Marsh admitted that although the 27-year-old could be a match-winner for Australia, his current form doesn't warrant selection, Sport24 reported.
The chief selector further revealed they had asked Maxwell to focus on his performances for his state side Victoria and Australia A in order to earn his spot back into the national team.
Besides Maxwell, batsman Travis Head and fast bowler Scott Boland, who all toured the West Indies, have also been omitted from the squad.
Meanwhile, bowling all-rounder Moises Henriques and batsman Shaun Marsh have been included in the line-up.
Marsh, who has returned to the team following the birth of his first child, will join his brother Mitchell Marsh in the national ODI squad.
