Former Australian cricketer Jeff Thomson has said that he believes the cultural problems in the Australian team can be traced directly to the doorstep of captain Michael Clarke.
According to News.com.au, apart from poor performances, the Australian team has been hit by a cultural breakdown in recent years, which Thomson lays squarely at Clarke's feet.
Some of the problems sparked when Clarke and Simon Katich were involved in a dramatic bust-up in 2009 in the SCG dressing rooms, the report said.
Most recently the Test captain has been at loggerheads with his former captain Ponting over claims in the former skipper's book that Clarke did not contribute enough when he was vice-captain, the report added.
Thomson said that there was not a player in the side, who would make a World XI because of the cultural problems, adding that Clarke may make it, but he may not play because of his back.
