Over 40 Taliban militants have been killed in a series of airstrikes launched in response to the coordinated attack of the group in Afghanistan's Kandahar province.
The Taliban militants launched a coordinated attack from four different angles in Nesh district, sparking heavy gun battle with the security forces, reported Khaama Press, citing local security officials, as saying.
According to the Kandahar police secretary Ghorzang Afridi, who confirmed the incident, stated that 43 Taliban militants were killed and more than 20 others were wounded.
Several vehicles and motorcycles belonging to the Taliban militants have been destroyed and some weapons have been confiscated by the security forces as well, the report said.
Meanwhile, the Taliban has claimed that two security outposts were captured during the attack and over 20 security personnel were killed. However, the security forces have denied the Taliban's claim.
