Highlighting the NDA Government's achievements in the last one year, Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan on Wednesday said that 4,410 kilometres of highways were completed in the country in the last fiscal while 7,980 kilometres of highway works have been awarded.
He said the pace of road construction in the country will soon touch 30 kms per day from the existing 12 kms per day.
Radhakrishnan further said that the welfare schemes introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government for poor and the downtrodden have received positive response across the country. He said that 15 crore bank accounts opened under Jan Dhan Yojana have changed the economic condition of the poor.
He said that 'Make in India' campaign has not only created more jobs but has also changed the way the world looks at India. The Union Minister was speaking at a function in Tiruchirappalli on the occasion of first anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government at the Centre.
