Australia skipper Michael Clarke enforced the follow-on as his side looked on course for securing a consolation win in the series, Sport24 reported.

From Australian side, Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Marsh claimed three wickets each.

Meanwhile, Peter Siddle and off-spinner Nathan Lyon shared four wickets between themselves.

Earlier, Australia had scored 481 in their first innings, thanks to Steve Smith for his 143 and opener David Warner for his 85, that resulted in commanding 374-run lead at stumps on the second day.

Adam Voges (76) and Mitchell Starc (58) were other notable contributors for the tourists.

England have already regained the Ashes series after claiming an emphatic innings and 78-run win over Australia in the fourth Test at Trent Bridge.
