Australian under-15 girls team coach Em Preston has said that more girls will look forward to pursue a career in cricket in the near future following Cricket Australia's (CA) decision to introduce pay hike in the new funding scheme.

Preston played for the women's team ACT Meteors and was an age representative for her country before retiring three years ago, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

According to the report, CA announced that young cricket stars such as Ellyse Perry can earn up to 80,000 dollars within a year at both international and domestic levels.

Preston said that the new funding scheme will give a positive direction to women to enjoy a more professional career in cricket just like the men have as they travel overseas and trace a more successful career pathway.

The 22-year-old coach also said that the pay hike will enable her to motivate her team to

stay in the game for longer and show them that cricket can become a career for them.

Preston further said that she planned to retire from the game as she wanted to focus on a teaching degree but refused to rule out a comeback.

She further added that if she considers returning to the game it will not be for the 100,000 dollars cash inclusion for the Women's National Cricket League team, but will be for the passion and love of cricket which she once relished.
