Oz opener Hughes in 'critical condition' after being felled by bouncer

Australia batsman Phillip Hughes has been knocked out by a bouncer and stretched from the ground during South Australia's Sheffield Shield clash with NSW.

Hughes was hit on the head by a bouncer delivery from Sean Abbott. According to News.com.au, he is in a critical condition and was given CPR on the stretcher as he came off the field.

Three ambulances and a helicopter were readily available to treat and transport him to the hospital.

Aiming at a place in the upcoming first test against India, the left hander opener had scored 63 off 161 balls before he was hit on the helmet.

 

The match has been officially called off.
