Australian rugby player Anthony Watts has reportedly been banned for eight matches for allegedly biting an opponent's penis during a local rugby league final on the Gold Coast.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, former National Rugby League (NRL) player Watts, who now plays for the local league team Tugun Seahawks, faced a Gold Coast-Tweed Rugby League judiciary hearing on Tuesday night on a contrary conduct charge.

Watts, who was accused of biting a rival player during a local match on September 1, has been banned for eight matches after being found guilty of the offence, with the report saying that video footage of the incident showed the rival player reeling away in pain.

After that, the report mentioned that the player pulled down his shorts to show the damage to a referee who immediately placed Watts on report.

The issue is the latest in a series of similar incidents for Watts, who had already been found guilty of striking his opponent and was fined last week for driving while suspended, the report added.
