Australian women's surfwear and swimsuit maker Roxy has been criticized for its voyeuristic promotional video that shows only the body of a young female and not her face.

The teaser has been described as 'softcore porn,' or as a lingerie ad because of the way the camera pans across the young female surfer, who is wearing only underpants, and then has a shower.

The company in their defense has claimed that the ad is a competition to guess the surfer's identity.

Five-time world women professional surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore and South African professional surfer Rosy Hodge have been named as the possible blonde surfer in the video.

Roxy will be revealing the identity of the surfer on Tuesday.

The company answered their critics by saying that women are complex and multi-dimensional and said that ignoring this fact meant ignoring who they truly are.

Female surfers, and fathers of some young female grommets, have taken to social media criticizing the video and promising to boycott the brand.
