Australia's team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris has said that injured pace bowler James Pattinson is on the verge of overcoming his 'growing pains' that have disrupted his promising international career

Pattinson is part of Australia's band of exciting young fast bowlers yet to develop the resilience required to play regularly without breaking down but is approaching the age (25) at which Cricket Australia (CA) believes that the rate of injuries levels out.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, CA's medical staff are hoping that the back stress fracture, which will sideline Pattinson from the winter Ashes, will be his last major bone injury, with Kountouris saying that as Pattinson is approaching 25, his chances of getting injured frequently, particularly with the bone injuries, will become lower.

The report mentioned that it bodes well for the 2015 Ashes campaign in England when Pattinson and fellow young guns Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc will be in their mid 20s and will have played 20 to 30 Tests.

Meanwhile, Kountouris also expressed confidence over the fact that the nation's bowlers had developed sufficient conditioning during the condensed Ryobi Cup to make the transition to four-day cricket.
