Arsenal footballer Mesut Ozil has reportedly requested club manager Arsene Wenger to allow him to keep taking penalties, despite having missed his last two spot-kicks.
According to Metro.co.uk, the German won a penalty but was unable to put it past the keeper due to his poor effort, depriving Arsenal to go ahead against the Bundesliga giants in Arsenal's 2-0 loss earlier this week.
Ozil was reportedly criticised for missing from the spot for the second time this season and he also has a poor penalty record from his time at Real Madrid.
However, he has urged Wenger to allow him to keep taking penalty shots and cited the example of Bayern duo Arjen Robben and Bastian Schweinsteiger, both of who missed key penalties in the 2012 Champions League final and then bounced back to help their side win an year later.
Ozil was widely slammed by a host of team-mates including Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker for missing the spot, although Wenger refused to criticize him for the miss, the report added.
