Jimmy Savile was referred to as "Dr Jimmy Savile, OBE, KCSG, LLD" in official documents despite him having had no medical qualifications.

Savile, one of the UK's most prolific sex offenders, was appointed to a board set up in 1987, by Baroness Trumpington, then a minister at the Department of Health and Social Security, to run the Berkshire secure unit, Daily Express reported.

He joined two magistrates and various health experts on the panel and was given a 1,230-pound-monthly-allowance.

A release issued at the time said that "Dr Jimmy Savile has been associated with Broadmoor for 20 years in a voluntary capacity, working closely with staff and patients.

Savile was a recipient of a honorary doctorate in Law from Leeds University but this was never mentioned in any Broadmoor publications.

He reportedly abused up to 1,350 victims before dying in 2011 at the age of 84.
