The PAHAL Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG scheme (DBTL) has benefitted over 54 lakh families in Punjab.

Around 85 percent of these families have been linked with Aadhar numbers and bank accounts to get the subsidies.

The scheme was launched in Punjab during its second phase in January. The state gives a cash subsidy on 12 cylinders each weighing 14.2 kilograms or on 34 cylinders each weighing five kilograms.

Under the scheme, LPG cylinders are sold at market rates and entitled consumers get the subsidy directly into their bank accounts. Apart from preventing the unauthorized sale of LPG cylinders, the scheme also ensures that the publics money is saved in bank accounts.

The Department of Food and Civil Supplies has informed that a subsidy of around Rs. 950 crores has been distributed under PAHAL DBTL schemes to consumers so far.
