Pak, Afghan Reuters' bureau chief Maria Golovnina found dead in Islamabad

Pakistan and Afghanistan bureau chief for Reuters, Maria Golovnina has been found dead in her house in Islamabad's Sector F-8 in Pakistan, said the police.

According to the Express Tribune, the police said that the Russian reporter came back home early in the afternoon as she was unwell and later dropped on the floor after vomiting.

Reuters' statement released after Golovnina's death said that they were saddened to announce that she had passed away in her Islamabad residence after falling unconscious to the floor.

The statement added that she was immediately rushed to the hospital after she was found unconscious but the medical teams were unable to save her.

 

Golovnina had been working with Reuters as the news agency's bureau chief for Pakistan and Afghanistan for the past year-and-a-half.
