Pakistan has been listed among the 10 worst countries that limit civil liberties on the internet due to increasing attempts by its government to control online content, according to a study by Freedom House.

The annual comprehensive study of internet and digital media freedom around the globe also found that internet freedom across the world has been on a decline for the fourth consecutive year.

According to the Express Tribune, the study covered 65 countries from May 2013 to May 2014.

Out of 65 countries assessed, internet freedom in 36 nations is on a decline over the past year.

Iceland, Estonia and Canada were the most free countries while China, Syria and Iran were noted as the least free countries, according to the study.
