Pakistan Army chief has reportedly suggested the Nawaz government to let former president Pervez Musharraf go abroad for his medical treatment and look after his ailing mother.
The issue of Musharraf's possible exit was discussed during a meeting between Army chief General Raheel Sharif and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday.
According to the Express Tribune, a well-informed security official said that General Raheel told Sharif that Musharraf's case now 'should come to a close'.
Raheel added that the sooner the case closed, the better it was, adding that Musharraf's mother was 'seriously ill' and he wanted to be with her at the earliest.
Insiders are of the view that given the army's crucial support for government's peace initiative, it will be extremely difficult for Sharif to ignore Gen Raheel's advice on Musharraf, the report added.
