A Pakistani anti-terrorism court has reportedly issued a death warrant for prisoner Shafqat Hussain, ordering his execution to be set for June 9.

The decision was taken after the Superintendent of the Central Jail in Karachi urged the court to issue a black warrant for the hanging of the death row prisoner as the stay period of Hussain's execution was over, the Dawn reports.

Hussain was detained and sentenced to death in 2004 for abducting and involuntarily murdering a seven-year-old boy, who lived in a Karachi apartment building where he worked as a security guard.

His review petitions were turned down by all courts in the land, including the Supreme Court.
