The Federal Cabinet of Pakistan has reportedly decided to carry forward the Taliban peace talks without letting the process derailed by the killing of the terrorist group's Chief Hakimullah Mehsud.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan has the right to take its decisions on its own according to its interests and if there cannot be cooperation from the other side to end terrorism, it should not be at least damaged.
According to Dawn, the militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) has refused to hold any kind of peace dialogue with the government after Mehsud's killing in a US drone strike last week.
TTP's spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that the Pakistani government and the armed forces were 'slaves of America', adding that there is no scope for dialogue with them.
Sharif said that Pakistan has paid the highest price of terrorism, rendering unmatchable sacrifices, adding that when the talks were in the process of reaching a solution, the drone strikes inflicted serious damage to the efforts.
The premier expressed confidence that Pakistan will not let the efforts for dialogue and peace to be derailed, the report added.
