A day after Pakistani troops killed two Indian soldiers and mutilated their bodies near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Sarath Chand on Tuesday said that Pakistan cannot justify this and also questioned that who did such a shameful act, if not the forces.
"Such acts show frustration of Pakistan. This is a condemnable act. They (Pakistan) can't justify this, if their forces have not done it, who has? Their posts supported them. They crossed the LoC and came to our area. This act is done by them and they have to take the responsibility and have to face the consequences," Lt. General Chand told ANI.
A day before, the Indian Army confirmed the news of mutilation by the Pakistan Army by releasing a statement on Twitter.
The Army, in a tweet said, "Pak Army carried out unprovoked Rocket and Mortar firing on two forward posts on the line of control in Krishna Ghati Sector. Simultaneously, a BAT action was launched on a patrol operating in between the two posts. In an unsoldierly act by the Pak Army the bodies of two of our soldiers in the patrol were mutilated. Such despicable act of Pakistan Army will be appropriately responded.
