Pak CII urges govt.to abolish co-ed system

Pakistan's top religious body Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has asked the government to abolish the co-education system as it is not compatible with Islamic principles.

CII in its statement has urged the government to abolish co-education within a minimum timeframe. The council said that limited time is required to make administrative changes including modification of the syllabus, The Express Tribune reported

The council was established in 1962 with an objective to advice the parliament on the compatibility of laws with Sharia.

CII said that under the Sharia, it is not mandatory for the Pakistani women to cover their faces, hands or feet. But it advised the women to cover up to avoid threats or any mischief. The judgment came after questions were posed by the Islamabad-based

 

Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA).

CII also appreciated country's Supreme Court for their order to the government to implement Urdu as the official language.
