Pakistan's Islamabad High Court has declared the detention of alleged mastermind of Mumbai attacks Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi illegal, ordering his release.
According to the Express Tribune, Justice Noorul Haq termed the notifications which were issued by Islamabad's District Administration as null and void, this morning.
Lakhvi's lawyer Rizwan Abbas, putting forth the arguments pertaining to the case, said that the statements were all in Hindi.
Lakhvi is accused of planning, financing and executing the Mumbai attacks in 2008.
Lakhvi's detention orders were issued by the Islamabad deputy commissioner under the Maintenance of Public Order on December 18, 2014 immediately after he was granted post-arrest bail by an anti-terrorism court.
